FORMS OF CHROMATIN
Generally Chromatin is of two types:
1. Euchromatin:
- It has looser DNA packaging.
- It contains less DNA.
- It is lightly stained when observed under microscope.
- Transcriptionally active.
- It is found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes.
2. Heterochromatin:
- It has tighter DNA packing.
- It is dark stained when observed under microscope.
- It contains more DNA.
- Transcriptionally inactive.
- It is found only in eukaryotes.
