FORMS OF CHROMATIN

Posted on

Generally Chromatin is of two types:

1. Euchromatin:

  • It has looser DNA packaging.
  • It contains less DNA.
  • It is lightly stained when observed under microscope.
  • Transcriptionally active.
  • It is found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes.

2. Heterochromatin:

  • It has tighter DNA packing.
  • It is dark stained when observed under microscope.
  • It contains more DNA.
  • Transcriptionally inactive.
  • It is found only in eukaryotes.
